Worthing - link Romania

Well we have had a rather successful trip to Worthing's Link Romania. A trunkie (£2) and a big brown leather sofa bed (£280).
Martha spotted the trunkie straight away and loves it! It has a slightly broken clip (I guess that is why the price was so low!) but works fine!
We move house in the summer and have been on the look out for a new sofa to replace the rather impractical and uncomfortable white ikea sofa we have had since getting married. I am going to make some tweed cushions for it out of my granny's old skirt to give it some pattern and add another texture!

I love Emmaus Cambridge!

Today is my daughters birthday and we took at little trip to Emmaus this morning for me to bargain hunt and Martha to eat cake in their bookshop cafe (Martha loves cake!). The lady in the cafe is always lovely and friendly and they possibly have the biggest portion sizes in the country! A coffee, Apple juice and shortbread came in at just £3.30 which is very good for this area and all the profits go to a fantastic organisation.

We had an amble round the shop but we didn't find anything on my 'to buy' list. We are buying all our family Christmas presents from charity shops this year so I have a long list. This has both a financial and ideological basis and is really fun!

However despite not finding anything on the list Martha picked up this lovely little Alessi egg cup and spoon and i found a brand new Traid Craft over mitt. A grand total of £1 was spent! The man on the till gave Martha the egg cup  as it was her Birthday. We go into Emmaus regularly (at least once a fortnight sometimes more and i think they are getting to recognise us!) Mos of the furniture we have is from Emmaus and we are going to miss it so much when we move.

White stuff skirt for me!

My favourite 'new' clothes shop is White Stuff so I am always in the look out for their clothes in charity shops. Yesterday I found this skirt that I remember liking several months ago in WS but not having the money or desire to spend nearly £50 on a skirt. In British Heart foundation it cost me just £4....that's what i like! I think it really is a summer skirt but wearing it with teal knit tights today makes it plenty warm enough for Autumn.

Hobby Horse

I found this lovely hobby horse at a church toy fair in Arbury, Cambridge in October. It has a real charm about it. I love it's simplicity and somewhat naive design. I have added the ribbon which matches the painted reigns. Martha loves swinging it about precariously in our house. I think it is going to be a family treasure (if she doesn't break anything with it) and best of all It cost just £2.
